Have you ever gone online to try to work you business… and then sat there thinking “what do I do now?”. You wouldn’t be alone.
Working for yourself is very different from being an employee. For a start, there’s no-one to tell you what to do. You have to decide that for yourself. You have to decide where you want your business to go, and how to get it there.
The “how” is very important. It can save you a great deal of time, or it can waste most of it. It can actually mean the difference between you surviving online, or going broke and back to the office.
Just imagine being able to make a few dollars online. That would prove to you that it really can work, and that would help pay for some of your costs. Even if you are trying to build your business on a budget, there are still a few costs associated with it. If you could at least earn enough for the business to pay for itself, then you at least wouldn’t be out of pocket while trying to become successfull.
It doesn’t do you much good to start earning money in 3 months, if you can only bear the costs of your business for 2 months.
Having a Business Plan can, and more than likely does, mean the difference between survival and your demise, just one more of the 97% that fail.
A Plan is essential. When you sit down in front of you computer, whether it’s first thing in the morning or when you get home from “work” in the evenings, you should know what you are about to do. It could be post to your blog (if you have one), with a headline and content that is optimized for SEO. This may involve research for an idea of what to post to you blog, then write and post it. Then it may be work on your article, one of the three you release every week.
You must remember that your Business Plan must be geared towards your success.
- Finding customers/prospects – or getting then to find you.
- Selling to customers/prospects.
That is how you get paid. You don’t get paid for checking your e-mail, seeing what your mates are up to on facebook, or even reading the latest “How to succeed online” ebook or watching your companies training video.
The last two items can help you, but read or watch in your downtime, not during the time when you should be taking action in promoting your business.
Remember
- Finding customers/prospects – or getting them to find you.
- Selling to customers/prospects.
They are the actions that will get you paid. That is what your Business Plan should be aimed towards.
Learn different ways of doing this in your downtime, but when you are working you should be taking massive action with what you have learnt to build your business, and get paid.
