Good Advice That’s Not

There are a million and one sites  (or more) online trying to teach people how to earn online. There may be a couple of thousand of these people who do earn a great income online, and do know what they are talking about. So when they tell you what or how to do something, you should listen.

If you o your maths, that just leaves 998000 people trying to teach you when they haven’t had any, or much, success themselves.

When learning to drive a car, would you really want someone who learnt the day before teaching you? They may know what to do theoretically, they may have passed the driving test, but they have had no practice and have not proven that they can successfully put into practice what they have learnt.

So, you’re looking for advice from someone, someone who can teach you? How do you know that they know what they are talking about? Especially if you are new to the game, you don’t know anything, how do you tell if someone is full of s**t?

You usually can’t. Not at first. If you’re looking for help, you’ll probably be doing what I did. Joining email lists. They’re every where. Put in your name and email and get an email every day, or every second day, or weekly.

You’ll soon learn the words, terms, sayings, phrases etc that marketers use. As you keep learning it will become more and more obvious if someone is offering you valuable content, if they are actually increasing your knowledge and trying to help you succeed.

If you find yourself getting any of this sort of advice and training, treasure them, and pay attention to what they say.

There seems to be an increasing number of people out there offering advice and trying to teach others to succeed… except they haven’t succeeded themselves yet. Their intentions may be good, but they don’t know enough themselves yet to successfully show anyone else how to do it. Plus every email you get from them is usually 2 – 3 lines of “help” and the rest is trying to ell you something.

Their advice, while maybe well-meaning with good intentions, is very basic and lazy in that they don’t really bother to expand their advice. ie they don’t fully explain how to carry out their advice. While they keep giving out the same advice, as you keep learning you’ll soon out-grow them.

If you find yourself on someones list who isn’t really helping with your education, and/or seems more interested in selling you something(as I found myself recently), don’t be afraid to opt-out, or unsubscribe.

Go to the bottom of the email and their should be a link to unsubscribe from their list. At the very least, it may save you  few minutes everyday from having to read their emails.

There are many people out their giving way excellent advice for free so don’t waste your precious time with those who hand out cheap, easy answers.
